Astray

A sudden numbness creeps slowly over her skin and whirls with utter determination throughout her being. And, not wholly unexpected, it engulfs her entirety. Vision blurs to an ever-changing grey as the twinkling rays lessen with depth. All that is to be heard fades to quiet murmurs and unintelligible whispers. Her movements, once quick and tireless, have been lost in an ill persuaded slumber. Even the restless stirrings of her mind seem to slow and Time itself becomes a faraway and nonexistent thought. And there she be, in a senseless place where gravity no longer keeps its hold. Perfect in a way, yet horribly foreign. And no matter how much she wishes to remain in this dreadful peace, life forces her away. With every time she sets back upon this yonder path, life renders her eager strive vain in use. Its secrets may never be told, nor its mysteries brought to truth, for the sea is no place for a human.
